Physical Education Department
It is an exciting year for the PE department at Guthlaxton College as the facilities that it currently uses are being upgraded. Firstly the new All Weather Pitch is underway and should be ready for use in November, secondly the extension to the sports hall has been approved and work will start once the AWP is completed. This will further increase the already excellent facilities.
The department runs a variety of courses to accommodate all levels of ability, all of which are run by enthusiastic and well qualified PE specialists.
At Guthlaxton we are proud to offer such an extensive range of extra-curricular activities to all our students. There are clubs every lunch time and after school with a high level of fixtures being played including friendlies, league games and both County and National Cups.
The PE department has grown over recent years and we are now included in the Family of Schools which is made up form all of our feeder High Schools and Primaries. The National wide scheme to increase sporting opportunities and the quality of teaching has really taken off and we are now seeing the benefits of the project. The School Sports Coordinator is involved in raising participation level and develops the gifted and talents students.
