Dear Parents/Carers
Across England and Wales, National Union of Teachers (NUT) members have voted in favour of a proposed day of strike action.
I have undertaken the necessary full and proper considerations to determine whether Guthlaxton could remain open due to the number of NUT staff members at the College who intend to be on strike on that day.
It will not be possible to conduct a normal timetabled College day so Guthlaxton will be closed to students from 8.45 am to 3.15 pm on Thursday 24th April 2008.
There are a small number of students who will be accepted into the College on the 24th April. They are those who have an external examination on the 24th and those who have made special arrangements with their individual subject teachers to do extra work, e.g. coursework.
Please note, the Soul Night planned for 8.00 pm in the College Main Hall is still going ahead.
