The Student Council have chosen Education for All as the Guthlaxton College Charity for 2007-2008. This follows the story of the “Journey of the Little Red Chair” which can be accessed from www.educationforall.com.
This is a newly formed charity which aims to:
- Re-Duce landfill
- Re-Use unwanted furniture
- Re-Cycle unused items
And help communities in Africa by providing them with the items for schools.
The College Council aim to raise at least £5000 to make sure that a container of furniture reaches South Africa and is put to excellent use thousands of miles away from Wigston. It is their aim through a series of fund raising activities to ensure that Every Person Matters… no matter where they live.
Fund raising events which will include cake stalls, sponsored silences, cycle rides, football matches, live music concerts, talent shows, guess the dolls name and so on are planned throughout the year with every tutor group aiming to raise £150.00.
