Guthlaxton team take part in the UK Senior Mathematics Team Challenge.
The regional finals of the UK Senior Mathematics Team Challenge, organised by the UK Mathematics Trust, took place at Loughborough University on Wednesday 9th November. This National competition promotes mathematical communication and teamwork skills and offers Year 12 and 13 students the opportunity to develop their enjoyment of mathematics in a competitive environment. Fifteen teams were competing from Leicestershire schools (including 5 teams from the independent sector) and, at the end of 3 hours of tough competition, the Guthlaxton team came in a fantastic 3rd place.
The team consisted of Joel Ferguson – Year 13 (former Leysland High School student), Jamie Mulllineaux – Year 13 (former South Wigston High School student), James Owers – Year 12 (former Abington High School student) and Tayla Poole Year 12 (former Bushloe High School student). Our team worked exceptionally well together and, despite the challenging nature of the rounds, their determination and commitment led to great success.
They were a credit to our College and our congratulations go to them all.
