Coming soon to Guthlaxton: ‘Gateway to Guthlaxton’

We will soon be undertaking a major build project to re develop the main front of the College to provide a new entrance and visitor reception. This will lead to a redeveloped foyer area, which will become a gallery to showcase student excellence with displays of work undertaken by some of the best students at Guthlaxton.

This work will complement the work already begun to upgrade, refurbish and develop our College facilities, which were

  • Development of Learning Resource Centre into an information technology rich facility alongside traditional books. Summer 2010
  • Development of Hair and Beauty and Engineering Suite to provide ‘hands on’ learning as well as theoretical teaching as part of the vocational learning centre. This will be complemented in the next few months by a motor vehicle unit. Summer 2011
  • Refurbishment of the traditional gym floor to support improved sports facilities. Summer 2011
  • Upgrade and refurbishment of ‘D’ Block to provide a centre to support Care & Guidance in the College alongside improved teaching and learning facilities. This included new heating, electrics, decoration, furniture and improved IT resources. Summer 2011

The College is also part of an LA run project to improve energy efficiency throughout all areas of the College including waste and recycling management. The project will support the College in reducing energy and energy costs by installing energy efficient lighting throughout.
