The neighbourhood beat team is offering to post code bicycles free of charge at various locations in Wigston during June.
Anyone with a bicycle can go along to any of the following events:
Saturday 25th June, 1pm to 3pm outside Little Hill Shops in Wigston
Sunday 26th June, 2pm to 4pm on Meadows Park in Wigston.
Officers will be using a ‘Paint Stick’ which involves painting the owners post code onto the bike in a discreet but easily accessible location on the bike frame and covering it with a layer of lacquer to seal it. Proof of ownership will be required.
PCSO Julie Toone said; “Cycle theft in Wigston is not a major issue, but by following simple steps owners can greatly reduce the chances of becoming victims.
The best way to keep your cycle safe is to always lock it to something secure with a good quality lock, even if it is only in your back garden and never leave your cycle unlocked even for a few minutes.”
