The students from the BTEC Performing Arts at Guthlaxton College have been working very hard throughout their three days. Already they have made 2 short films each and looked at how to use emotion memory effectively and also put into practice the approach of Mike Leigh's style of improvisation.
They have been recording evaluations and throwing themselves into warm up exercises and workshops designed to explore scaling their gestures and how to keep the energy and focus within the frame of the camera. They have created meaningful scenes from nonsense words to experiment with their vocal delivery and worked in the studio with lights to understand how an actor has to hit their mark and the mechanics of film making.
This vocational experience will deliver another film, a film trailer and also a guide to acting for the camera produced by the students. They have also benefitted from discussions about the performance industry and possible career destinations. Hopefully some of them could progress to film work on the big screen!
