With the results of the prestigious Year 10 and Year 11 UK Mathematical Challenge just received, the Mathematics Department at Guthlaxton College have much to celebrate. From an entry of over 200,000 from across the country our students have gained 7 gold, 21 silver and 23 bronze certificates awarded.

As well as the overall success of our students we have also achieved some exceptional individual performances. Our highest scorer was Tayla Poole who will represent the school, along with Eleanor Weedon and Savannah Carvalho (all Year 11 students) in the European Kangaroo competition.  This competition is open to the top 2000 highest scorers in the country.  Also, Year 9 student James Ozel, from Bushloe High School, has qualified to take part in the Cayley, the next round for Year 9 students.  The European Kangaroo competition and the Cayley competition take place on Thursday 17th March.

Gold awards in Year 11 went to Tayla Poole, Eleanor Weedon, Savannah Carvalho, James Owers, Chris Thornhill and Rebecca Rosen.  Silver awards in Year 11 went to Adam Langeveld, Joshua Higginbottom, Ashley Kirby, Matthew Bacon, Evan Smith, Jacob Ellson, Joshua Bee, Joshua Comery, Rushabh Pattani, Staci Rojahn, Jack Miller, Sophie Hollis, Emily Barnes, Roxanne Burfoot, Kirsti Oakley and Lia Jones.  Bronze awards in Year 11 went to Joshua Herbert, Samuel Koelling, Thomas Snow, Luke Urry, Stephen Spicer, Tamsin Taylor, Kane Bradshaw, Ryan Smith, Toby Stapleton and Kate Deacon.

Silver awards in Year 10 went to Adil Rashid, Nathaniel Smith, Bethany Tate, Alexander Fergusson, Lydia Willemsen. Bronze awards went to Josh Howitt, Harry Mason, Emma Padfield, Alice Craddock, Connor Nicholson, Rachel Borrows, Alex Lund, Thomas Grocock, Alex Maxwell, Dominic Harrison, Matti Scott and Oliver Dovey.

Two Year 9 students from Bushloe High School took part in the Challenge.  James Ozel received a gold award and Alex Thornhill a bronze award.
