Urban Canvas Productions spent a day at Guthlaxton to produce an inspirational art mural
It was a pleasure to welcome Tony and Peter of Urban Canvas Productions to Guthlaxton College to create a quality large scale visual piece of artwork for the College community to enjoy.
The wall of the Wendy’s dining room was the location for the transformation. The project was supported by Find Your Talent and was the brainchild of The Take Over Festival. A group of students worked together to develop the idea supported by Nathan Human and Dan Edwards of Citizen 598. The work was commissioned by Samantha Whelan of Pedestrian Arts.
Over an eight hour period the wall was transformed and a bespoke mural was created reflecting the five values of the College – Belonging, Respecting, Achieving, Valuing and Everyone Learns with our tiger leaping into the design to reflect “Learning to Succeed”.
The artwork provides a brilliant splash of colour to our campus and will be enjoyed by the learning community across the College. The project has led to an impressive transformation of the exterior of the College.
“It was an amazing day which offered a challenge to the artists and has provided a fresh and innovative focus brightening a key area in the College”.
You can watch the 8 hour process in a 4 minute video below.
