Update from Glenne House
Staff and students in Glenne House have enjoyed a very positive start to the academic year. Following successful interviews, Ifrah Malik (GMR) and Tom Carlin (GED) have been appointed as House Captains for the coming year; we congratulate them and wish them every success in their roles. They chaired the first meeting of the House Council and have asked representatives to discuss forthcoming events with students in their Tutor Groups.
The first House competition has been judged by Mr Keller. Tutor Groups were judged on the quality of their notice boards. Winners in Glenne were GGH, GRH and GFK. I am really pleased that Mrs Gough’s Tutor Group were overall winners and we congratulate them. The personal input from students was, I am sure, the deciding factor.
Tutor Groups are also busy filling shoe boxes to be sent abroad for needy children, when they are completed the Rotary Club will then organise for their transportation.
Janie Martin, a speaker from the charity Help for Heroes, came to our House Assembly on 4th October to receive a cheque for £1000. The money was raised by students during last year from events such as leg waxing, counting sweets in a jar, cake sales, t-shirt sales, non uniform days and many other events. Two students Anna Page and Jack Vardy (both in GSL) raised money from a sponsored event during the summer holiday. We invited Tayler May and Andy Bond (House Captains from last year) to make the presentation. I would also like to thank them for all their hard work throughout last year.
