The girls were well prepared for the match, arriving well before the opposing side so they could warm up and get into the focused mind set that would ensure a win. A sense of professionalism and desire filled the air of Guthlaxton as the girls took to the pitch. From the onset there was beautiful play; continuous accurate passing, strong defensive tackling, and many powerful strikes at goal.
Team Lutterworth hardly managed a touch of the ball. A young new comer to the team, Coral, decided to show the extent of damage she could do with her quick skilful feet resulting in a goal for Guthlaxton. After this, it seemed the girls went on an attacking rampage with Captain Megan Burnside fighting hard and breaking through many times but marginally missing the back of the net. However, her hard work paid off after her hundredth break through when Tasha managed to get on to the end of one of Burnside’s balls and blasted it in the goal. Tasha liked the taste of scoring and so minutes later repeated her brilliance, putting the score 3-0 in to Guthlaxton’s favour.
Half time drew and keen water supplier Amy Brown was straight to ensure the girls did not suffer from dehydration. Some tactical changes were made, with Abbey Wells and Tasha Croper being brought forward and Tamara moving into mid-field, this saw Guthlaxton take a more relaxed defensive role to the game. The girls knew they had done plenty to prevent Lutterworth from gaining a goal and felt keeping possession was more important for the remaining minutes. It was a great success for the girls who won with ease with a result of 3-0.
