A group of prospective Guthlaxton Students visited Cambridge University on 29th June 2010 to experience what it would be like to be a student at this prestigious university.

As part of the Guthlaxton College’s Year 9 Gifted and Talented Enhancement programme, a group of thirteen year 9 students spent the day in Cambridge. They were given the opportunity to look around St. Catharines College and they were able to question Dr. Paul Hartle (Senior Tutor and English lecturer) about student life in Cambridge and the application process. This visit is repeated annually and has run since 2003. During the day students climbed the 123 steps to the top of St.Mary’s church to get a fantastic view of the other Colleges. The trip culminated in the customary punting session on the river Cam. The following day students produced an interactive presentation and a short film of their day in Cambridge. Staff at Guthlaxton were most impressed with the level creativity and skill displayed by the students. Congratulations to everyone for a great two days!
