As we approach the end of the term, we are forced to say goodbye to our old library. In its place and during the short space of the summer holidays it will be transformed and open as the Guthlaxton College Multi-Media Learning Resource Centre.

Following a substantial grant from the Local Authority the college has recognised the need to enhance the study facilities for our students and particularly our Sixth Formers.

The new Learning Resource Centre opening in September 2010 will have computer access for up to 60 students at any one time. These facilities can be used on an individual basis or for larger group teaching.

The new centre will be fully refurbished and decorated. State of the art computers will be installed and wireless netbooks will be available for lesson loan.

The new search engine will link to other resource supplies across the college including the growing Sixth Form library and stores of text books held within the department areas. The search engine will also link to 8000 recognised websites selected for study purposes.

The centre can also be used for conference purposes with plasma screens for group presentations. Rolling messages will keep students up to date with exactly what is going on across the college.

Guthlaxton recognises that if we want our students to achieve outstanding results they require outstanding facilities.
