The College was very proud of the Student Council’s latest public event; Gutho's Got Talent. The evening was a very diverse celebration of the range of talent our students possess, with acts ranging from dancers, singers and musicians to acrobats and gymnasts and even breakdancing. The students pitted their talents against one another in a live final judged by over 200 members of the paying public. Often the sound and support for each act was deafening as each act was so well received. Each act waited nervously for the audience vote to be counted, hoping they would be awarded the first place price (£60 in vouchers!!).

Whilst the vote was counted the audience were treated to some excellent performances from our acclaimed and accomplished BTEC Performing Arts Students accompanied by Mr Smith on grand piano. Also credit has to be paid to the Year 10 BTEC production groups who ran all of the sound, lighting and backstage crew for what was a near seamless evening of entertainment. The audience vote finally came in and the acts gathered on stage to hear the results, in first place we were proud to announce our winner as Kieran Alleyne who sang a solo R n B song and danced with the breakdance crew "3stylers".

Joint second place went to Lena Walker who wrote and performed her own song which was beautiful, as well as then moving to the grand piano to treat the audience to a small Chopin piece, also in second were MoveShakeDrop a very energetic and well drilled group of Year 10 dancers performing a very modern piece of street dance which was executed with real professionalism.

The evening managed to raise over £650 to support ex student Chris Mark's sponsored climbing of Mount Kilimanjaro and to support our House charities. Watch out for the event next year as we may have the next Diversity right here at Guthlaxton.
