With the results of the prestigious Year 10 and Year 11 UK Mathematical Challenge just received, the Mathematics Department at Guthlaxton College have much to celebrate. From an entry of over 200,000 from across the country our students have excelled themselves with 14 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze certificates awarded.

As well as the overall success of our students we have also achieved some exceptional individual performances. Our highest scorer was Joel Fergusson who will represent the school, along with Jade McLaurin, Jamie Mullineaux, Robert Meads, Callum Dorward, James Parrott, Jacob Smith, Scott Grocock, (all Year 11 students) and Tayla Poole (Year 10), in the European Kangaroo competition. This competition is open to the top 2000 highest scorers in the country and this year sees our highest number of students through to this round. The European Kangaroo competition takes place on Thursday 18th March and we wish them the best of luck.

Gold awards in Year 11 went to Joel Fergusson, Jade McLaurin, Jamie Mullineaux, Robert Meads, Callum Dorward, James Parrott, Jacob Smith, Scott Grocock, Joseph Hay, David Rupp and Samuel Newsome. Silver awards in Year 11 went to Thomas Carlin, Jessica Cooper, Aaron Jackson, Alex Bentley, Jessica Russell, Jamie Wright, Samuel Dunkley, Alex O’Connell, Chris Deacon, Jake Haston, Jack James, Nathan Forbes, Priyesh Pattni and Michael Parker. Bronze awards in Year 11 went to Zara Cook, Karan Mangal, Katherine Ardley, Rachael Hunt, Beth Simmons, Emily Steel, Jordain Smith, Sarah Berry, Megan Squire, Emily Crosby, Jaspreet Johal, Paul Pollard, Rebecca Savage, Isaac Allison, Matthew Willemsen, and Scott Bird.

Gold awards in Year 10 went to Tayla Poole, Chris Thornhill and Josh Higginbottom. Silver awards in Year 10 went to Ashley Kirby, Thomas Snow, Georgia Ingham, Joshua Herbert, Adam Langeveld, Callum Payne, Joshua Thomas, Rebecca Rosen, William Morris and Joshua Comery. Bronze awards in Year 10 went to Emily Barnes, Savannah Carvalho, Jake Tongue, Andrew Bolley, James Owers, Sayab Mansoor, Ella Lee, Sam Koeling, Jacob Ellson, Mathew Bacon, Ryan Smith, Timothy Whittle, Joshua Bee and Tamsin Taylor.
