Half A Sixpence

Rehearsals have been in full flow for this year's musical. The cast have been working hard and putting in long hours to prepare what we hope will be an entertaining spectacle. As always we are grateful to parents and family of cast members for your support throughout the process. Massive thanks also to the staff at Guthlaxton who have been understanding in allowing rehearsals to go on and helping cast members who may have needed to miss a lesson or two. With adverts in the Leicester Mercury and a slot with BBC Radio Leicester we have given the show a public profile and thanks to Mr Ellis of the Oadby & Wigston Rotary Club, who wrote to Mr Steele whilst he was recently performing at the De Montfort Hall, we have also received a wonderful good luck message from Tommy Steele who originally played the character of Arthur Kipps.

Young Citizens

Three Guthlaxton students were involved in a performance at the Guildhall, Leicester on 27th February. Catherine Crossley, Jess Russell and Jaideep Dhaliwal joined a project called Young Citizens held at the New Walk Museum every Saturday by the theatre company Citizen 598. The devised performance has been produced with a group of 14-19 year old students from across Leicester. The project has been supported by the Find Your Talent programme.

Jess and Jaideep also worked alongside Citizen 598 to secure funding for a youth led project called Take Over Festival which will be held at Guthlaxton this summer.

Easter School

Over Easter from Tuesday 6th April to Friday 9th, Guthlaxton College will be hosting creative workshops in the performing arts. The professional theatre company Citizen 598 will be providing workshops to 10-16year olds who wish to explore acting - particularly comedy; and also gain an introduction into acting for TV and film. They will have the chance to make their own scenes and film their own work.

Students don't need to have had previous experience. For more details email info@citizen598.com
