Glenne House
In a recent assembly, our House Captains, Tayler May and Andy Bond, presented their ideas for the House Charity (Help the Heroes). This was very well received and students are busy getting plans together to raise funds. Mrs Hadkiss has challenged each Tutor Group to raise as much money as possible; she presented each Tutor Group with a £10 note to help them get started. GRH has already made over £80 from a cake sale and are busy selling sweets to raise yet more money. GDO are planning a leg waxing session and we look forward to many more exciting events.
Tutors have been busy with Year 11 students completing their LeCap forms and references in preparation for the next stage in their education; while our Year 10’s are making preparations for work experience. House sport continues with netball and football this half-term.
The Glenne House Attendance Tiger has been introduced, it is presented to the Tutor Group with the best attendance each week. Winners so far are: GWS, GKR, GCE.

De Montfort House
As the pace of this year continues to increase De Montfort house is reflecting this by moving from strength to strength. So far we have had a number of very productive House Council meetings where we have selected our chosen charity to support; the LRI New Born Baby Appeal. Our first fundraising event “The Great Easter Egg Raffle” will take place this half term. Also in liaison with the Student Council we will be working towards a large whole College event “Gutho’s Got Talent”.
In December I am pleased to report that we had great success, coming first in the Ultimate Frisby competition securing more points in our pursuit of the House Championship in which we currently lie in first position. Also this year we have launched the De Montfort Attendance Tiger - which is awarded to the highest average attendance achieved by a tutor group. So far the winners have been DGR, DNJ and DDY.

Herrick House
Many Herrick students are considering the next stage of their careers. UCAS and LeCap applications have been processed, and we are now considering applications to our sixth form.
The House Council, led by House Captains Saber Ali and Catherine Crossley remains active, and representatives are currently considering ways in which we can raise money for charity. At the end of last term, as usual, students responded well to the challenge of preparing Christmas hampers for the local elderly. This event shows just how creative our students can be, and HBK’s Christmas turkey design won them overall top position, with HGN and HCV proving to be individual House winners.
We have seen a slight surge in House points recently, mainly due to increased success in the quiz events, and students will be organising teams for the inter-House football tournament shortly.
The Herrick Tiger, a new initiative, has so far been awarded to tutor groups HDL, HSS and HGN for their overall attendance figures, with HGN achieving an all time high of 98.3%.

Wistan House
It has been a busy time for students; all Year 11 students in Wistan House have completed LeCap forms for further educations, which is very pleasing. As a house team Mr McMurray, Mrs Toward and I have also been working through the applications by Wistan students for our Sixth Form, both the numbers of students applying and their abilities are encouraging. So best wishes to all for their endeavours!
The House Council under the guidance of the House Captain are busy preparing information boards for Wistan students to find out more about the chosen charities, which are The Laura Centre and The Teenage Cancer Trust and plans are afoot for the next fundraiser. In Sport we are organising teams in readiness for football and netball matches.
A competition was held to name our attendance tiger and the name Wisdom was pulled out of the hat as the winner; the name was submitted by Miss Ball - congratulations!
