As always this time of year is a busy one for our Food Technology students, meeting deadlines for coursework and also participating in competitions. There have been two competitions recently as follows:
Young Chef of the Year Competition
This was held on 10th December and involved all year groups. There were eight finalists to include:
| Year 10: | Jack Bradley Lia Jones |
| Year 11: | Samuel Shawley Laura Dixon Abi Finchman |
| Year 12: | Charlotte Stokes |
| Year 13: | Frances Bancroft Kirsty Jones |
| The judges: | Paula Hubbard an ex student who is now the head chef of a pub/hotel and Edith Chappell a retired head chef commented on the very high standard and that it was a very close competition with only a few marks in it! |
Congratulations to each of these and good luck to Laura who will be representing the College at the next round held at the Samworth Enterprise in February when she will compete with other students from schools in Leicestershire and Rutland.
Festive Fayre Competition
All our Year 10 students have been busy making festive products. Their brief was to Design, develop and make a high quality festive product to be packaged and sold in a leading supermarket.
They all rose to the challenge and produced a wide range of products.
The judges, Sally Cox and Deborah Wilson, again had a difficult job and commented on the high standard achieved. All our students should feel proud of what they have achieved but the following are special prizes:

| 2nd prize: | Jana-Liss Cooper |
| 3rd prize: | Beth Corby |
| Packaging prize: | Jack Bradley |
