After a long term, students are ready for the traditional Sixth Form Christmas dinner...

The Sixth Form Christmas dinner is a long standing tradition of a sumptuous meal, good company and a chance to blow away some cobwebs with a boogie; staff and students alike!

About 90 students and staff have chosen to join in the fun at Walkers Stadium on Wednesday 16th December. More details in the January newsletter!

Unfortunately there wasn’t enough take up for the Guthlaxton Christmas lunch in the common room, which last year proved to be great fun in the community lounge, with 30 students, Mrs Wilson and Mr. Ashton, crackers, hats and Christmas pud galore. Pity, because it really got students into the spirit of Christmas. We’ll try again next year.

Common Room developments

For ages, students have said they’d like to improve the common room, so here’s their chance. Madhatters day on Wednesday 16th December invited students to wear a funny hat for the day to raise funds for improvements. With a quiz at lunch, plus cakes and treats, everyone did their bit, we could have significant funds to make some real headway…… Watch this space!

Farewell

The Sixth Form reluctantly says goodbye to Rachel Barrett who leaves us at Christmas to join her partner in Nottingham. She has spent the past 4 months whipping the PSA into shape and developing independent study skills amongst Year 12 and Year 13. Her Personal Statement workshop and study session were both valuable and good advice for students and her presence upstairs in B-Block has meant that the area is better used than it has ever been. More news on her replacement in the next feature.

Thank you Rachel and good luck for the future.
