The region heat of the UK Senior Mathematics Team Challenge, organised by the UK Mathematics Trust, took place at Loughborough University on Wednesday 11th November. This National competition promotes mathematical communication and teamwork skills and offers Year 11 to 13 students the opportunity to develop their enjoyment of Mathematics in a competitive environment. 15 teams were competing from Leicestershire Schools (including 5 teams from the independent sector) and, at the end of 3 hours of tough competition, the Guthlaxton team came in a fantastic 3rd place. The team consisted of Eve Morley (former Abington High School student), Rob Bell (former Bushloe High School student), Sarah Pike (former South Wigston High School student) and Steven Addlesee (former Abington high School student). Our team worked exceptionally well together and, despite the challenging nature of the rounds, their determination and commitment led to great success. They were a credit to our College and our congratulations go to them all.
