The first league game of the season for the U16 girls saw an excellent start to the season. Guthlaxton gave a strong performance against the previous seasons league winners and set their standards for the forthcoming season. Guthlaxton were in control of the game throughout, leading 4-1 after only the first quarter. Although SJN showed some periods of strong play and the Guthlaxton girls at times gave too many inaccurate passes, the girls persisted and showed strength as a team. They generally dominated in the attacking area as well as showing solid defending skills and the final score was a convincing 17-7 win to Guthlaxton.
This was the first match of the season for the U15 girls. Having only had 3 training sessions since arriving at Guthlaxton it was a great opportunity for the girls to have a competitive game and start to develop as a team. Although they started strongly, the Guthlaxton girls struggled to play their own game. After the first quarter the girls were 2-3 down and the strength of the SJN defence meant the girls struggled to score. However, as the game progressed the girls positioning and movement around the circle improved and they managed to win the last quarter, but it was too little too late and the final score was 5-10 to SJN.
