First Sixth Form charity event- was it a success?

The Sixth Form held their first charity fundraising event on Friday 2nd October for Jeans for Genes. They all wore jeans and a black or white t-shirt, paid at least £1 and had music in the common room at lunchtime. They raised £262. It was a fairly good event, but not as good as in previous years.

We have some work to do! Hopefully, with better planning, preparation and more people involved we can beat this for Pink Day on Friday 30th October. The SFM feel that since it is also Halloween on 31st October it will be Pink Day with a twist of Halloween. All students in Year 12 and 13 need to be involved to unite the Sixth Form. The SFM are planning for pink jelly and plenty of cakes, as is tradition. Everyone will wear as much pink as possible and we hope to have games in the common room at lunch.

Forthcoming news: We have nearly finalised the plans for the formal Sixth Form Christmas dinner. It will be held at Walkers Stadium on Wednesday 16th December from 7pm. Tickets will be £25 (approx); expensive we know, but costs are rising all over the place- it includes a two course meal, the company of the rest of the Sixth Form and a boogie.

All Year 11 students have received information about the courses on offer and about the Progression Pathways. They must complete a LeCap online application and a Sixth Form paper application and hand it in by the end of January 2010.
