News from Herrick House

Herrick students have settled into College life and are getting involved in its many aspects and activities. Vertical Tutor Groups are evolving well, and it is good to see students from all year groups happily interacting. The recent Creativity Day was a good opportunity to take this further, and it was clear that in a majority of groups, students worked closely together to produce some interesting (and very varied!) end products. HGN won the Tutor Group mascot competition with their psycadelic elephant (!) and HSJ came up with an interesting winning design for a House Logo, which incorporated aspects of the Herrick coat of arms and motto. The afternoon presentations were entertaining and extremely varied, with HBK winning with their take on the stimulus word 'Freedom'.

The House Council recently had their inaugural meeting, which was well attended, and congratulations to Saber Ali (HGN) and Catherine Crossley (HBK) who have been chosen as our House Captains. These are new posts, which will hopefully allow further student input into the running of the House.

On the House points front, Herrick has recently seen an encouraging surge and I remain optimistic here!
