News from De Montfort House

De Montfort House have returned to school for the autumn term with the same buzz, energy and enthusiasm with which they finished before the summer. We have been engaged in many activities since returning including Tutor Group quizzes, assemblies, House Council meetings and very importantly electing our House Captains for the 2009-10 academic year. Our congratulations go to both Charlotte Cookson of DKK and Rebecca Borrows of DTM. Both students gave very strong interviews for the position and I am confident they will lead the House from strength to strength.

Recently the biggest event the House and school have been involved in was Creativity Day. This day gave the students of the House the opportunity to work and bond together whilst being creative and with a little healthy competition. All students had the chance to stretch their creative skills such as imagination, improvisation, creativity and communication in order to create a House Logo, a tutor group mascot and a Presentation based on a word stimulus to the rest of the House (No mean feat!). The day was in many ways a great success and the winners of the individual competitions were; Mascot: DAK with an excellent dragon made from recyclable materials. DNJ’s design for the House Logo a shield with Simon De Montfort on horse back (of which I am sure you will see a lot more of soon) and the best presentation was made by DKK who worked together to produce an excellent video based around interpretations of the word "present".

All in all a busy yet engaging first half-term, in which we find ourselves still leading the House Championship. Hoorah!
