House captains appointed and successes in creativity day
Wistan House seems to be buzzing along nicely at present, it was wonderful to be able to invite Year 11 – 13 to apply for the position of House Captains, a new role following the successful launch of Vertical Tutor Groups. After interviewing a number of students we have found 2 very enthusiastic members of Wistan to fill the role.
Congratulations to Laura Hollis 12WAS and Jordan Masters 13WAM and good luck to them in their new posts, they are also taking responsibility for running the House Council which is growing in numbers each meeting.
The recent Creativity day illustrated the enthusiasm of both tutors and students in Wistan House, all 16 tutor groups designed a logo to represent Wistan House, a mascot for their tutor group and a 5 minute presentation to entertain; to include the ‘green theme’ and possibly their stimulus word, presented to them on the morning of creativity day.
It was amazing to see everyone was getting involved in some way and it made the judging extremely difficult. The creativity day winners in Wistan House were:
House Logo: WME and WSB
(to be released in the next newsletter as students are busy editing to amalgamate the 2 successful designs.)
Best tutor group Mascot: WAJ
(superb penguin made out of recyclables, including an oak leaf sledge!)
Best Presentation: WGE
(the most hilarious representation of Jeremy Kyle featuring Prince Wistan, evil cousin Behrtric and the bashful Queen Elfeda to represent how Wistan House got it’s name.)
Congratulations to all Wistan students and tutors for their tremendous efforts and making it such a success for Wistan House. I would like to finish by encouraging all students to make donations of suitable items to fill as many shoe boxes as possible for the Rotary Club shoe box appeal. Well done Wistan House and keep it up!
