Leicester Philharmonic Choir

As part of our arts in the community work, this will be the second year that the Leicester Philharmonic Choir is using the college as its main rehearsal venue. LPC is the city's largest and most prestigious choir with over 100 regular members. Over the last eighteen months, international conductor Sir Andrew Davis and composers John Rutter and Karl Jenkins have visited the college to take rehearsals in which a growing number of staff and students have been involved. This coming season includes Haydn's Nelson Mass conducted by Simon Halsey (Chorus master for Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra), a sell-out carol concert in St James the Greater, an opera gala concert in Symphony Hall, Birmingham and Verdi's Requiem in De Montfort Hall. Members will also have the chance to sing in Paris over half term in the summer.

Rehearsals are on Mondays evenings from 6:45-8:45 pm in the Main Hall. New singers are always welcome and rehearsals during September are open to all newcomers with no obligation. The choir is a good mix of ages and abilities and the emphasis is very much on inclusivity in the community rather than exclusive elitism. Talk to Mr Dacey if you'd like to know more, or simply come and try a rehearsal and see how you get on.
