We are delighted to receive the new Year 12 into the Sixth Form at Guthlaxton College. All students had a personal interview with a member of the House teams to confirm their GCSE results and their option choices. Most students have been successful in securing their first choices; some were a little disappointed with their results but have been given the opportunity to have a second chance to improve their level 2 qualifications and pick up some new ones, including courses on a Tuesday at South Leicestershire College. We have a partnership with the College and students attending their courses have on the whole been successful.

A new Post 16 mentor has recently been appointed to support the work of the Sixth Form. Rachel Barratt has recently completed a Drama degree at De Montfort University and will be on hand to offer study skills as well as general advice and guidance to all students on Post 16 related matters. She is presently developing a session on ‘Personal Statement writing’ to offer to Year 13 in need of some inspiration as they embark on their applications to university. Rachel will also manage and develop the Sixth Form Private Study facilities in B-Block. We have been able to secure 20 notebooks for Post 16 students which can be booked out during non-contact periods to complete research and A level study.
