Students are invited to become Learning Partners to support the College in a drive to improve learning
Mrs Wilson and Mr. Baldwin delivered House assemblies at the end of April to inform students about a new initiative to develop student voice across the College. A Learning Partner is an essential new role for students at Guthlaxton. The College wants students to actively participate in reviewing the quality of teaching and learning. In this role, students would be expected to maturely review lessons and feedback to staff about the learning experiences of the students in the class.
Being a Learning Partner will give students an opportunity to:
- find out what the ingredients of a successful lesson are;
- carry out research projects;
- work with staff to develop effective lessons;
- present your findings to staff and students.
To apply for the position of a Learning Partner students must have at least three of the following qualities:
- be committed to the development of Guthlaxton
- ability to work in a professional manner with staff;
- good personal organisation and the ability to be flexible;
- mature approach to college life;
- excellent rate of attendance and punctuality;
- able to work as a team player;
- ability to communicate successfully with students and staff both verbally and in writing;
- be interested in finding out other people’s views about different aspects of the College.
Applications are due in on 8th May, followed by interviews on Monday 11th May. Training will then by offered in June before the Learning Partners assist in the PE Department review in the Summer Term.
