Student Council Events
Student Council representatives have been involved in a number of new groups across the College. We now have a Student Consultant group who are being asked about how we can improve the environment of the College for the future. They are also involved in planning Creative College events to support the move towards vertical tutor groups. Student Council representatives all wear a CA (College Ambassador) shield. They receive agenda items and minutes via email and have their own notice board to communicate with the rest of the College. All students have access to the minutes via their group tutor and the weekly student notices which are posted on the College intranet. A further development will be to add all minutes and notices to the VLE.
Catherine Crossley and Michelle Small represented the Council at Robert Smyth School in March by attending a Student Voice Conference. They carefully planned and prepared a short presentation to share with schools across the County. The day was productive and worthwhile, offering a number of good ideas for developing Guthlaxton Student Councils.
The Student Council wanted to continue with an event which was started last year- Gutho’s Got Talent.
Five acts auditioned for this year’s show, each with their own strength of captivating an audience. They performed to a strong crowd in the main hall on Tues 24th March.
