With the results of the prestigious Year 10 and Year 11 UK Mathematical Challenge just received, the Mathematics Department at Guthlaxton College have much to celebrate. From an entry of over 200,000 from across the country our students have excelled themselves with 8 gold, 16 silver and 33 bronze certificates awarded.
As well as the overall success of our students we have also achieved some exceptional individual performances. Our highest scorer Sarah Pike (Year 11) has been invited to compete in the Olympiad paper. This is open to the top 500 students in the country from each year group and can lead on to a scholarship to a summer school, which Sarah attended last year, and representing the country in the international competition. In addition to this Joel Fergusson, Callum Dorward, Robert Meads and James Mullineaux (Year 10) have been invited into the European Kangaroo competition, which is open to the next 1500 highest scorers in the country. The Olympiad and European Kangaroo competition takes place on Thursday 19th March.
Gold awards in Year 11 went to Sarah Pike and Steven Addlesee. Silver awards in Year 11 went to Bryn Pratt, Lewis Hallam, Ryan Mills and Laura Hollis and Bronze awards in Year 11 went to Bin Dong, Alex Cairns, Joey Jaques, Zoe Jackson, Georgina Jones, Idris Broachwalla, Adam Percival, Emer Buck, Thomas Lilley, Chloe Impey and Laura Holt.
Gold awards in Year 10 went to Callum Dorward, Robert Meads, James Mullineaux, Jade Mclaurin and Michael Parker. Silver awards in Year 10 went to Alex Bentley, George Landers, Jake Haston, Sarah Berry, James Parrott, Emily Steele, Jordain Smith, Jack James, Joseph Hay, Jacob Smith, Kathryn Reynolds and Scott Bird. Bronze awards in Year 10 went to Amy Brown, Katherine Ardley, Thomas Carlin, Nathan Forbes, Owen Williams, Pryesh Pattni, Samuel Newsome, Joshua Thomas, Jaspreet Johal, Mark Jones, Saber Ali, Jessica Russell, William Haston, Jordan Spencer, Samuel Dunkley, Eilish Pick, Jessica Cooper, Scott Grocock, Zoe Haller, Caitlin Coxon, Chris Deacon and Michael Murray.
