At the start of this term, Gemma Wright, an artist from the Leicester Print Workshop spent a day in the department, working with a group of year 10 students. The students who are currently working on a ‘My Space’ project had prepared for the workshop by selecting images from their sketch books which they could develop into prints. After showing examples of her own work, Gemma explained the process of ‘drypoint’ printing, a printing technique which was new to all of the students. They were busy throughout the day working on prints which were both illustrative and abstract. The finished prints are displayed on the landing outside of the Art department.
