Guthlaxton takes part in the National Enterprise Week competitions.

For the third year Guthlaxton has taken part in the national competitions as well as hosting our own Dragons Den – Gutho’ Grillin’.

This year five teams took part in the national Make Your Mark Challenge which was issued at 9am on Monday 17th November. The teams had one day in which to complete a business plan to respond to the set challenge which was to ‘Create an entrepreneurial idea inspired by the Olympic and Paralympic Values.’ The teams worked really well during the day and made their presentations to the judges at 5.30pm. The judges were Mr Paul Howkins from Camtec Electronics and Mr Kevin Skipworth of Snow and Astill. They were very impressed with the amount of work completed in such a short period of time and praised all of the teams.

The winners were the Year 10 team of Harry Cunningham, Ben Glover, Ben Deacon and Freddie Dobrijevic. These students then made a presentation to the local Federation of Small Businesses at their meeting at Lutterworth College on Tuesday evening. The audience of business people, teachers, parents and other students was quite a daunting task for all of the invited groups of students. Again the Guthalexton team were successful and were awarded the ‘Most Innovative Idea’ for their work.

We would like to thank all of the students for their hard work, as well as our congratulations to the winners for their outstanding success.
