Virtual Motion Dance
Guthlaxton College was pleased to welcome Virtual Motion Dance Company to work with our BTEC Performing Arts Students zt the beginning of December. Artistic Director, Helen Smith helped the students work towards becoming Dance Leaders. The next stage of the workshops will take place in the New Year.
No More Wasted Lives!
You can now view the work of our BTEC students on the Road Safety campaign No More Wasted Lives by visiting the No More Wasted Lives website. They will be performing as part of an exicting live event in February to 6th Formers across Leicestershire and Rutland.
Big Band
The Big Band played a lunchtime soundbite programme at the Richard Attenborough Centre on 27 November. The Brass Quintet has presented assemblies at Abington High School and Little Hill Primary School, and BTEC students have given assemblies at Abington, South Wigston and Bushloe High Schools.
BTEC
BTEC First Certificate music students have been honing their mixing skills with professional DJs Mike Whittle and John Mooney from the Sly Arts Company this week. Students had to prepare their own original mix of dance songs to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of DJ work.
Music and BTEC students also recently attended a Philharmonia orchestra concert at DMH and a production of Cabaret at the Royal Derngate Theatre, Northampton.
