The U16/U18 Boys Badminton teams have had a steady start to the season. In the first game against Moat on 30th October, they managed to draw 4-4, a fantastic result against a very strong Moat side. Ashley Mason (11PTS) and Ben Konarski (11MBE) put in excellent performances in their respective singles matches and were then backed up well by Mikesh Mistry (11MZB) and Adam Brant (10HGR) in the doubles.

Since then, the lads have competed in the U18 league, playing 2 years below their age group. This gave the lads valuable experience and match practice in preparation for the ‘Leicestershire Schools Badminton Association’ Tournament.

The Tournament was held on 27th November at Babington College. Ryan Mills (11PTS) was our top seeded player and therefore came up against some very strong opponents in his singles matches. There were also excellent performances from Ashley Mason, Ben Konarski and Mikesh Mistry but despite their best efforts, the lads just failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

Training for the school teams is held on a Wednesday after school in the sports hall. Please see Mr Bateman in C1-1 if you are interested, or alternatively turn up on a Thursday lunchtime for a friendly ‘hit’.
