Over a number of years, Guthlaxton's GCSE results have been improving at greater than the national rate of improvement. This has been recognised through various Awards from the Department for Education and Skills and the Technology Colleges Trust (now called the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust).
These Awards are:
2001 - DfES School Achievement award
2002 - TCT Most Improved Schools Club
2003 - DfES School Achievement Award
2004 - SSAT Most Value Added Club
In order to achieve success we have continued to introduce new initiatives. For a while we have made use of Easter revision lessons and a range of extra revision lessons, arranged by individual departments. We also make use of Study Skills Days for all students. In addition, we operate an extensive revision programme at the end of our GCSE courses, known as TiGeR revision. This has led to excellent feedback from both staff and students.
